
Although you can operate Resolve without any third-party i/o hardware, if you want external monitoring or output to tape, you’ll need to purchase one of Blackmagic Design’s PCIe capture cards or Thunderbolt i/o devices. It includes most of the features of the paid software, except collaboration, stereo 3D and noise reduction. Resolve Lite supports output up to UltraHD (3840 x 2160). Both free and paid versions support a variety of third-party control surfaces, with the most popular being the Avid Artist Color and the Tangent Devices Element panels.
